Canada's CIOs developing new Standard for Data Ownership
Updated: Mar 3
The citizens, consumers, and organizations of Canada can look forward to a new tool in their efforts to gain meaningful control over their information.
'Zero-Copy Integration' is a newly-proposed standard being developed by the CIO Strategy Council | Conseil Stratégique des DPI, a development agency of the Standards Council of Canada (SCC).
Supporting Data Owners
The new standard is being designed to empower end users and supply chain organizations with powerful controls over how their information is access and used:
Control of data access (granular down to the cell)
Control of data stewardship / data custodianship
Control of data portability
Control of deletion / right to be forgotten
In a potentially massive win-win for the Canadian economy, the framework is also intended to provide Canadian developers and service providers with a collaborative framework that offers the following benefits:
Accelerated delivery times for new digital solutions
Reduced IT overheads and delivery costs
Minimized compliance risk e.g. GDPR, CCPA
