California's Proposition 24 passes

Updated: Nov 26, 2020

On November 4th, 2020, California voters approved a ballot measure that proponents say will close a loophole in privacy laws and give consumers greater control over targeted advertising.

Why this matters

When it comes to data protection regulation, California often sets the template for the rest of the United States.

Quotable quote

"Those businesses will feast on the companies whose model is pervasive tracking." - Alastair Mactaggart, founder of Californians for Consumer Privacy
